Victorian Students are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to participate in the Australian Government Department of Education (DOE) National Schools Constitutional Convention (NSCC) 2025. The Convention is supported by the Department of Education, Victoria (DE) and coordinated by National Curriculum Services (NCS).
The NSCC is one of the major components of the Australian Government Civics and Citizenship Education (CCE) program. The NSCC is an annual peak event exploring the Australian Constitution for senior school students in Years 11 and 12. A total of 25 students will be selected to attend from Victoria.
The Convention will be held on 25 - 27 March 2025 in Canberra at the Museum of Australian Democracy, with accommodation at the Pavilion on Northbourne Hotel. Costs associated with flights, accommodation and meals are covered by the DOE.
Supervisors of students are selected by each state and territory education departments in accordance with their respective school excursion policies. These supervisors will assume full responsibility for the welfare and supervision of students from their state or territory during travel, accommodation, and all scheduled activities, in line with the applicable school excursion policies of their jurisdiction. All accompanying supervisors are registered teachers and/or possess valid working with children checks (or equivalent).
Students must be enrolled in Year 11 or 12 in 2025 to be eligible to apply.
To apply, please submit the completed and signed Expression of Interest form by 12:00pm Wednesday 5 February 2025 to [email protected].
Selection criteria will be based on a wide range of considerations, including but not limited to the number and range of applications received, school sector, location, ICSEA score, merit of the written piece and the applicant’s previous experience in civics & citizenship, politics, legal studies or student voice activities (if highlighted).
